Research Project on Platforms and Privacy Presented at WISE 2020

A recent research project of Prof. Dr. Jens Förderer and Tobias Kircher was presented at the 31st Workshop on Information Systems and Economics, held from December 16-19 2020.
The project, titled “Does Consumer Privacy Harm Innovation? Evidence from Google’s Enforcement of COPPA in Android’s Market for Kids-Games” investigates an important question faced by platform companies: should they encourage privacy on their platforms? While privacy fosters user adoption, it potentially harms complementary innovation. So far, little is known about the actual consequences of privacy on innovation. The paper is currently being finalized and will shortly appear as a working paper on this website.
